Renaissance Festivals in Pennsylvania

Renaissance festivals in Pennsylvania will bring merriment and pleasure this summer. Renaissance festivals are fro fantasy and amusement. Pathways of Renaissance villages fill with costumed characters from medieval times.

Visitors often dress in period costume. Visitors and character actors mingle and laughs ensue. The festivals feature Renaissance era food, drink, arts, music and entertainment.

Pennsylvania hosts an impressive array of Renaissance fairs. The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire runs twelve weekends, from August to October. The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival begins in late August and runs through September. Smaller renaissance festivals are held in Kutztown, Lehighton, Manheim and Columbus. Following is information about the festive events.

Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire
August 9 – October 28, Weekends plus Labor Day, 11 am to 8 pm
Manheim, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Fantasy Festival is a trip back to the days of chivalrous nights an pageantry. Twelve weeks of merrymaking on 35 acres. The afire features 21 Royal Kitchens, 13 Stages of entertainment, over 90 shows daily, artisans demonstrating ancient crafts, award winning winds and ales and lagers brewed on site.

There are twelve weekends of mirth. Following are the themes for each merry weekend.

August 30 – 31 & September 1: Children’s Fantasy

Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival & Artisan Marketplace
August 23 – September 28, Weekends plus Labor Day, 10 am to 6:30 pm
West Newton, Pennsylvania
The all new Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival has seven themed stages of entertainment, from jugglers to magicians to combat jousting. Wandering musicians and townspeople mingle with royalty on the shady pathways of the village. Ticket prices not posted at time of writing.

Midsummer Renaissance Faire
