Therapedic 3″ Deluxe Memory Foam Topper

When my husband and spent $4000 on a high end mattress several years ago, we didn’t expect to have sagging on each of our sides of the bed. We have been considering the purchase of a memory foam topper, and there are many on the market from which to choose. The question was, which one was best?

When we received a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond, we decided to use it on a memory foam topper sold in their stores. Of the three available, we purchased the Therapedic Memory Touch Deluxe 3″ Luxury Memory Foam Mattress Topper.

There was a small sample of this topper on display in the store, and I was impressed with the deluxe quilting on this topper. The other 3″ memory foam topper had no such quilting, and was only $50 cheaper.

The Therapedic Memory Touch Deluxe 3″ Luxury Memory Foam Mattress Topper comes in a large box which is very heavy, adn the mattress topper is very compressed. I had to have help getting this out to my car. It claims to have pressure relieving memory foam, AirCool Technology, stain resistance, and a 15 year warranty.

It features a dual layered memory foam design, with 1/2″ memory foam quilted outer layer and a 2 1/2″ memory foam inner layer. The cover is a soft-touch European style quilted damask. The box states that it is constructed from only premium quality ingredients.

So how did it perform? Well, straight out of the box this topper does have quite an outgassing of odors, but it really did fade within one day and was gone in two. There are some instructions on the inside lid of the box, stating to allow the topper to uncompress naturally and not to force it open.

This information states that the topper will return to its natural state in 24 hours, but that was not the case for us. This topper didn’t completely fill out the cover until we had had it out of the box for a good three days. I didn’t know this when I made the purchase, but the insert states that the topper is made slightly smaller than the mattress, thus allowing enough space for sheets to fit onto it properly. I was wondering if the added three inches to our mattress would mean the sheets no longer fit, or that we might have to spend big bucks on deep pocketed sheets, but our sheets fit fairly well. Not as well as without the topper, but they stay on our mattress.

While I love this Therapedic Memory Touch Deluxe 3″ Luxury Memory Foam Mattress Topper, my husband isn’t quite as happy with it. When sleeping on it, the foam does compress with the body, and I feel like it is hugging me. I find it very comfortable and relaxing, but my husband gets too hot. I do feel slightly warmer when sleeping on this topper, but I am always cold and welcome the additional warmth.

One thing I don’t like is how there is a big transitional area between the compressed pad under my body and the uncompressed pad under a leg that may be off to the side of my bed. It feels like I am climbing up a hill. I never considered this when looking at memory foam toppers, but it stands to reason that the areas that are not being laid on will be higher than the areas that are used in the sleeping position.

Overall, I love this pad, but it was very expensive. The regular retail price was $400, but we got it for $320 with the Bed Bath & Beyond coupon. Although my husband still isn’t sure he wants to keep it, I am sleeping much better with the Therapedic Memory Touch Deluxe 3″ Luxury Memory Foam Mattress Topper on our bed.
