The Best Products for Your Hair – Paul Mitchell

For years, I had a hard time finding products for my hair that smelled nice, but also didn’t make my hair dry. Usually, people have to choose between those two options. Suave has some of the best smelling shampoos and conditioners out there. However, they make your hair dry if they’re used daily. I’ve also tried Pantene, Dove, Herbal Essences... Over the years, I’ve tried most shampoos out there. And it’s the same result, my hair didn’t like them.

A few years ago, a hair stylist said my problem was that I was using products from the drugstore. I figured she was only trying to sell me some over-priced name brand products. But I gave in and bought some Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner. After using them, I realized that she was right. I could use the entire bottle without my hair becoming dry or getting used to it. A little over a year ago, I had a bottle of the Paul Mitchell daily clarifying shampoo. It was such a big bottle, that it took a year for me to use it all. When you look at it that way, the shampoo really isn’t that expensive. Since I go to a Regis salon, I’ve also bought their shampoos and conditioners. They are just as good as Paul Mitchell.

Both Paul Mitchell and Regis brand shampoos and conditioners are also excellent for permed and colored hair. About every two years, I get a loose perm and I have my blonde hair lighten. However, it’s a different story if you have dandruff. Selsun Blue is the only dandruff shampoo available that works. (Note: See my review of Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo for mention of how bad Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree dandruff shampoo is.)

When I started using mousse, I wanted something that smelled nice. I tried the scented ones that Suave made, but my hair felt dirty after using it. And really, it didn’t smell all that nice either. I mentioned to my hair stylist a couple of years ago about my problem finding a mousse that smells nice. Her friend who worked beside her joined in the conversation. She told me that Paul Mitchell’s mousse (Paul Mitchell calls it: Medium Hold Sculpting Foam) smells like coconuts. I smelled it and I agreed with her. I bought some that day, and two years later, I still use it. Not only does it smell nice, but my hair neither looks nor feels like I’ve put anything in it. It is the best mousse out there.
