Renaissance Fairs in Indiana and Kentucky

Come, all ye rouges and maidens, to a medieval celebration! Renaissance fairs provide fine adventures for all ages! And there are a number to attend in Indiana and Kentucky.

Bloomington Renaissance Faire – Located approximately 53 miles south of Indianapolis in Bloomington, Indiana. This fair will be held one Saturday in mid-April 2008, date to be announced, from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Parking and admission will be free. Those who wish to dress in period attire will be required to keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied, only toy firearms allowed. No alcohol will be sold or permitted. Fishers Renaissance Faire – Located approximately 17 miles north of Indianapolis in Fishers, Indiana at the Connor Prairie Living History Museum. This fair will be held October 6th – 7th from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Parking will be free. Tickets will be $6 for adults, $3 for kids ages 5 – 12, and free for children ages 4 and under. Those wishing to dress in costume must keep weapons sheathed and peace-tied. This portrayal of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I will feature jousting as it was done in times long past by knights in shining armor; master craftsmen demonstrating age-old arts such as blacksmithing, leatherworking, weaving, and more. Talented performers will entertain with period music and dance. A special children’s game area will include authentic period games. Mainstrasse Village Maifest – Located approximately 80 miles north of Lexington in Covington, Kentucky. This festival will be held May 18th – 20th from 5:00 pm – 11:30 pm on Friday, 12:00 pm – 11:30 pm on Saturday, and 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Sunday. Parking and admission will be free. The event is spread out over 6 city blocks and celebrates the German tradition of welcoming the first spring wines. Attendees will enjoy continuous live entertainment by traditional and contemporary performers as they visit merchants selling delectable foods, beverages, and wonderful crafted items. River Raid Renaissance Festival – Located approximately 80 miles north of Lexington in Covington, Kentucky. This city also hosts the “Original” Goettafest and River Raid Renaissance Festival together June 16th – 17th from 12:00 pm – 11:00 pm on Saturday and 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Sunday. Parking and admission will be free. Goetta is a local delicacy; a breakfast loaf of sausage, spices and oats. In addition to other festival fare, visitors will enjoy this indulgence served with new spins such as goetta pizzas, goetta burgers and goetta appetizers.
