My Review of Fields at the Wilderness

Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin is the place to be for family fun. The city offers numerous large water and theme parks, river boat rides, exciting water shows, shopping centers, haunted houses, carnival games and so much more. For restaurants they also have a large variety of places to choose from depending on what you feel like. One of my top 5 places to eat at in the Dells is definitely Fields at the Wilderness.

Location

Fields at the Wilderness is located at 511 East Adams Street in the Dells.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere is very top notch and elegant. As you enter the restaurant you walk up a tan and red carpet ramp bordered with glass half walls framed with gold railings. You are surrounded by large palm trees that are wrapped with small lights. The waiters and hosts greet you wearing black tuxedos.

In the dining area are large stone hearth fireplaces, white cloth covered tables that are surrounded by more palm trees and beautiful unique tall water fountains. The 36 foot high ceilings really open up the room and make it seem larger than it is.

As you walk through the atrium you will pass by the large wine wall. On the wine wall are hundreds of bottles of wine from all over the world in a glass case. From New Zealand to Italy to Australia and many other destinations you will be sure to find a wine you enjoy, and one that is within your price range.

The lounge area is very classy but with a retro twist to it. There are approximately 40 light purple bar stools surrounding the teal colored bar that is shaped similar to a stretched out four leaf clover. Above the bar hang the wine and martini glasses that are highlighted with neon purple and teal lights. It was a great location to enjoy a few drinks at and comfortable to sit at.

During the summer months you can enjoy a drink outside on the patio that overlooks the water. Out here you are surrounded by a beautiful garden of different flowers and plants and water fountains.

The design of the building itself is very unique. It was created by James Dresser who was a protege of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright, whom is well known for his creative and unique designs.

I usually end up ordering the Shellfish Melody. This platter gives a great combination of seafood with broiled shrimp, scallop and lobster risotto in a lobster cream sauce. My husband goes for the 24 oz porterhouse champagne brie style with is triple cream mushroom brie with caramelized onions and white truffle oil. They are both very tasty and filling.

Kids Menu

Many people take their kids here for a special “grown-up feel” treat. It is fine dining but still casual enough to bring the little ones. Wisconsin Dells is built on a family atmosphere so it is nice that they offer an amazing kids menu here. On the menu for kids they offer:
~ Hamburger
~ Deep fried shrimp with fries
~ Chicken tenders with fries
~ Mini corn dogs
~ Mac & Cheese
~ Cheeseburger
~ Pizza
~ Half rack of ribs

Prices

You will be looking at between $30-$60 per person for a meal and 1 drink. The atmosphere (even though it is a little dolled up for tourists), the service (tuxedos and all), and the meal are all well worth it for the price.
