When reviewing any kind of book, each person has their own way of deciding whether it is a good book or a bad book. For me, what I see as a really great book is one that can make me cry. If a book can’t get emotion out of me, it is definitely not a book that I will be reading again. However, I would give any book a fair shot of receiving my approval. I do not believe that any person can give a beneficial review of a book if he/she has not read that book in its entirety.
The book Message in a Bottle, by Nicholas Sparks, is my favorite book of all time. Not only did it make me cry, but it made me cry at least five or six times throughout the book. I even finished the book crying. It is by far the most powerful love story I have ever read in my life. The first time I read it, I read it cover to cover. It was like it was impossible for me to put it down. I was just so captivated by Nicholas Sparks’ writing style and his moving love words. Every time I pick up the book, I cannot put it down.
This book is about a woman named Theresa who finds a bottle with a message within it while she is walking along the beach. When she opens the bottle, she realizes that it is a letter from a man named Garrett to his love, Caroline. She is intrigued by this letter and writes about it for her job. She then receives mail from other people who have found similar letters from the same person. Her column has her go to North Carolina and do a story on this man. Upon meeting him, she finds out that he lost his wife and the letters he had written were his way of expressing his feelings and grieving. She also notes that his personality in his writing matches his personality in reality. The more time she spends with him, the closer she comes to falling in love with him. However, when Garrett finds the letters that Theresa had found, their relationship takes an unfortunate turn.
Sparks makes his story impossible to walk away from and impossible to forget. His writing style keeps turning each page one by one just to find out what happens next. He will having you laughing, crying, and feeling emotions that many writers to fail to make their readers feel. He is a one-of-a-kind author who has remained my favorite for a long time now. If you enjoy this book, then it will definitely make you want to read his other books as well. They are all extremely powerful love stories that give you hope for the future and keep you motivated to find your very own love story, one that can become a reality in your life.
I recommend this book to any person who has ever been in love, desires to fall in love, or just wants to feel what it is like to have your heartstrings tugged to the utmost possibility. This is a book that you will not be able to only read once. There is a movie out that is based on this book, but I wouldn’t recommend watching it. It does not even come close to being able to compare to the book.
