How to Apply for and Receive an Instant Credit Card

What is an instant approval credit card and how do you apply for an instant approval credit card?

An instant approval credit card is a credit card that is issued by a major credit card issuer through an online approval application. This online application if specified to do so, can give the average applicant a credit decision in 60 seconds or less.

An instant credit card is essentially the same thing as an instant approval credit card. However from time to time there are credit cards available that allow instant but limited use of a credit card account the second it is approved.

One such credit card, as of this writing (May 2009), is the Amazon Rewards Visa Card issued by JPMorgan and Chase. Interested applicants can apply for the Amazon credit card at www.amazon.com and many will receive a response within 60 seconds.

If the applicant is approved for the Amazon Rewards card, a screen will display the likely credit limit. The system will then automatically add this new credit card as a payment option on the Amazon.com website.

This allows the user to instantly use the credit card on the Amazon.com website immediately after the application is approved. In essence this is an instant credit card. While the card use is limited to just the Amazon site, the user needs a free Amazon.com account, technically speaking the card is an instant credit card.

When the physical card arrives in the mail, the card can be activated and used like a normal credit card.

The majority of credit cards out there these days allow the applicant to receive a credit approval or rejection in under one minute. Very few offer true ‘instant’ cards such as the Amazon Visa, but it is recommended that those interested in instant credit cards search the internet when they are planning to apply for a new credit card.

Most instant credit cards that allow instant use of the account at the time of approval will be limited to use on one site or one network of sites. Therefore many of these cards are special offers and are often branded (such as the Amazon branded Visa) and useful right away only on the brand site.

For traditional instant approval credit cards, most major issuers offer instant approval options to the average credit card applicant.

Find a credit card that suits your needs and check the application to see if the decision is made instantly. If it is, simply fill out the application and allow the browser to load. A decision will be displayed along with a estimated credit limit and a time line of when the card will appear in the mail.

Sometimes further processing is needed to determine if the applicant is approved and this will be displayed on the decision page if further application review is required by the card issuer.

With any credit card application process, try to limit the number of cards that you apply for in any 6 month period and always verify that the online application is secure before entering personal information.
