Dye Sticky 3 Paintball Gun Grip – Review

After playing a particularly intense game of paintball, I realized that the grips on my gun were covered with a slippery combination of sweat and paint, making it difficult to feel like I had a firm grasp of my marker. Right then and there I decided that my next purpose for my paintball gun was going to be a Dye Sticky 3 Grip. I ordered the Dye Sticky 3 Grips the next day, and upon touching the Sticky Grips I didn’t feel any particular stickiness, although I knew to expect that for a while (as the oils on your hand react with the grips they eventually grow stickier).

Installation was pretty easy, all you need is an Allan wrench and the four screws the original grip on. The Dye Sticky Grip 3 does include screws, but these only fit the frames of Dye’s own guns, for any other markers you will need to use the original screws. Two things I noticed right after installing it were that it immediately improved the feel of the marker, and that it also had a small tab of plastic extending over the edge of the frame. While that wasn’t a big deal it does occasionally get annoying. Another small inconvenience I noticed was that to take apart my gun I now had to take off the Dye Sticky 3 Grip before doing any normal maintenance.

Despite the inconveniences, the Dye Sticky 3 Grip does do what it advertises, which is keep your grip firm. After a day of play the grip was fully sticky and I was ready to see how well the Dye Sticky 3 Grip performed. The next time I played, I got hit right above the trigger guard, spraying oily point all over my hands and the grip. Fortunately the Dye Sticky 3 Grip worked as advertised and I had a grip just as firm (albeit a little wetter) as I did when I first arrived.

Dye Sticky 3 Grips can easily be had for $20 plus shipping on eBay and for that price they are well worth the money. They give you a firm, more comfortable grip than the stock grips while also keeping your hands from slipping. The Dye Sticky 3 Grip was worth every penny I paid for it, and I even bought one for my friend. If you find yourself having having your sweaty hands slip from your stock grips, you should definitely buy a Dye Sticky 3 Grip.
