The 1980’s does not seem to want to go away anytime soon. We still love the television shows and movies from that era (no matter how lame they may seem). The music is played on the radio. (Many teenagers today are misbelieving that some songs are actually new hits). Big hair comes and go (okay not quite as big). Plus, no matter how much people want to gripe about the fashion of the 1980’s it keeps coming back, too. Case in point, the ever popular 80’s jeans, colored jeans.
How are women and yes even men wearing these colored jeans? They are wearing them anyway they want. That is the main difference between now and then. Back in the 80’s most of just followed the current style. Now we are older and this means we are wiser (if not more fashion conscious). We make our own fashion statements. We look at what is popular, what is supposedly hip and then we tweaked the styles we like and make them in our own.
Now here comes those colored jeans.
What are the cuts?
Yes, skinny is still popular. But if you don’t dare to go to skinny with your jeans, why not try the straight leg version. Straight legs jeans will make your legs look longer and sleeker. What is not to love with that style trend?
But if you love the boot style. You can find colored jeans made in this style, too.
What about the waist?
We are lucky, here, too. Not every designer is totally doing away with the hip huggers. But some are making them a bit higher. If you do a bit of shopping, you are sure to find just the right waist line you like in colored jeans as well as plain denim.
Teal. Okay, this is a bit of a brave look to try. Not everyone will want to try it. Remember if you go with this color to down play the color of your blouses and tee shirts. You don’t want to end up looking gaudy or too flashy.
Reds and oranges. Don’t cringe. These colors can make a woman really stand out, in a good way. Make sure you have a good cut. Try them on in front of a mirror, check out your view. Do you look good from all angles? Remember you can wear the cut and the waistline you like.
White. Some women think they have to steer clear of white (which never really went away totally) jeans. But white jeans can make a woman look really sexy. Again, watch the cut and the waist line.
Black. Black is like white, it never goes out of style. Is it true that black is sexy and makes us look slimmer? (YES!) Again, watch the cut and the waist.
Men aren’t left out totally with the colored jeans, either.
Some men are brave enough to try burnt orange colored jeans. Add a nice tee shirt and your man does have a much more pulled together look that just your basic colored denim. But remember not every man is going to like this look.
Another good shade for men is gray. This is something more men may like (especially the washed out colored grays).
What about shoes what types should we women be wearing with our jeans? This again is up to us. Women are wearing both high heeled and flats.
Women are also add a tad bit of metallic to their outfits. This may be a bit of metal embellishment on a purse, a bag or even on a pair of high heeled shoes. Just remember not to go overboard and watch how much jewelry you wear when you are wearing metallic in other places.
The thing this season is having fun. Wear what you like. Try to be a little creative and maybe a little bit more brave. You don’t want to live in a fashion rut. You will bore yourself and those who see you.
