5 Extreme Sports Adventures in Belize to Put on Your Bucket List

Tired of the same old vacation destinations? Why not change things up this year and get a little extreme in Belize? The region features some of the best extreme sports adventure opportunities that I know of. Here are five of the best ones:

1. Ian Anderson’s Cave Branch Adventure Company

Imagine spending your nights nestled in the tree tops of Belize and your days exploring Actun Loch Tunich, XIBALBA and Mayan ruins. That’s exactly what is possible through Ian Anderson’s Cave Branch Adventure Company and Jungle Lodge. Personally, I have always been fascinated with caves and ancient civilizations, so vacation spots like these tend to attract my attention like a mosquito to a barbecue. Package prices fluctuate but typically start at $338 per person.

2. Splash Dive Center

Prefer the wide open seas to the tight confines of caves? Then you may want to consider booking a trip to the Splash Dive Center instead. While there you can scuba dive alongside whale sharks at Gladden Spit or snorkel the Blue Hole. After all, no self respecting extreme sports fan should leave Belize without visiting the Blue Hole at least once. Package prices generally start at $1,600 and include overnight accommodations, scuba diving and some transportation.

3. Seaduced by Belize

Looking for a destination that has a little bit of everything? Check out Seaduced by Belize. You can go cave tubing, ride a zip line through the jungle, explore Mayan ruins and scuba dive with sharks as well as rays. In my opinion, it’s a great option for couples or families that have multiple, extreme sports interests. Packages may be customized, so prices vary quite a bit.

4. Belize Jungle Dome

Belize is also the sight of extremely large tarpon, so avid fishermen may prefer reserving a trip though the Belize Jungle Dome. You can snag 250 plus pound tarpon, go horseback riding in the jungle, kayak to Clarissa Falls and much more. The company offers a multitude of package options, so at least one of them should satisfy your need for adventure. Package prices do change based on the elements desired, but tend to average $3,450 per person.

5. Slick Rock

Those who like their extreme adventure served up on a fiberglass board should take a look at what Slick Rock has available. It is a private island resort located near Glover’s Reef Atoll. There are packages that include surfing and kiteboarding as well as other extreme sports like cave diving and night snorkeling. With so many options to choose from, package prices do run the gamut. In most cases a package with several extreme sports components included will cost you roughly $1,295 per person.
