Top 10 Mother’s Day Bible Verses for Cards and Letters

In the Bible, we are all told to “Honor your father and your mother…” (Exodus 20:12) so what better day to honor our mother than on Mother’s Day. Likewise, the best location to reach for inspiration to honor your mother this year is from the written words taken straight from the bible. Here are my favorite quotes for my mother that can be spoken or written in a Mother’s Day card.

Bible Quote #1:May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience.” (Colossians 1:11) This is not directed straight at mothers however it speaks strongly to those children that appreciate their mothers’ patience throughout the child’s lifetime. It is great quote to show ones’ appreciation to a mother’s everlasting patience.

Bible Quote #2: “Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.” (Proverbs 23:22) This is a wonderful quote for those children that have not had the best relationship with one’s mother. It is also nice to remind your mother that although she may have been strict on you, not always did want you wanted, or even grounded you that you do not despise her for being a good parent.

Bible Quote #3:“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” (1 John 3:18) Let your mother know this year that her love is shown, not only in the compliments and encouragement that she gave but also the appreciation for the love shown through punishment and actions.

Bible Quote #4:“Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered. It always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres.” (Corinthians 13) This speaks numerous words to a caring, loving mother whom is in your life.

Bible Quote #5:“…Love comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”(1 Timothy 1:5) This Bible quote can be used alone in a greetings card if you are one of little words.

Bible Quote #6:And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”(1 Corinthians 13:13) Explain to your mother that she has given you all three things, especially love.

Bible Quote #7:“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” (Exo 20:12)

Bible Quote #8:“But the child’s mother said, “As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So he got up and followed her.” (2 Ki 4:30) This will tell your mother that you will always be there for her through everything that may come in ones way.

Bible Quote #9:“Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it.” (Song of Solomon 8:7) This states that your love for your mother is and always will be there for her, even if evil comes to test this love.

Bible Quote #10:“He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love.” (John 4:8) There is nothing stronger for a child to thank ones mother for than for sharing the love that God has given us. There is nothing stronger than comparing ones mother’s love to that of God’s love for everyone.
