Silver Jewelry Club: Fantastic Savings or Total Scam?

Silverjewelryclub.com is a site that advertises “designer jewelry for free.” All you pay is the shipping cost ($5.99 each) on the jewelry which is supposedly worth anywhere from $49.99 to $89.99 for each piece. Several styles of jewelry are offered including necklaces, earrings, pendants, and bracelets. Large pictures and descriptions are provided for each piece, which are featured on the website for only 12 minutes. Once that 12 minutes has passed, a new piece is featured. Four pieces are featured every 12 minutes 24 hours a day. This makes this site every changing and very addictive.

An example of some of the jewelry featured – a pendant: “Genuine Swiss Blue Topaz Pendant 1.00 carat. Oval Cut, 1 pc. Vibrant color & Clean, Per sterling silver stamped .925, 1.01 grams, Dimensions 5/8 x 1/4 inch” or some dangly earrings: “Multicut Garnet & White Cz Drop Earrings Sterling Silver, Stones: Total weight of gemstones: 1.75 ct, genuine garnet, 2 pc trillian cut, 4.00mm, genuine garnet 2 pc,oval cut 6×4 mm, white cz, 2 pc, round cut 3 mm, vibrant color and clean clarity, earrings are pure terling silver stamped .925, 2.12 grams, dimensions 1 x 3/8 inch, push backs. The pictures are large and vibrant and the option to buy a chain is included with every pendant offer.

Once you see a piece that you like, you can click a button that says “Click here to get this free” and it takes you to a checkout page that asks for your billing and mailing address and if you want to pay by Visa/Mastercard, Paypal, or with a gift certificate. No account is needed because it asks for this information every time you buy a piece. Shipping is not combined and each piece is purchased separately. If you spend too much time deciding on whether or not to buy the piece, you’ll lose the chance if the 12 minutes ends, unless you are already in the checkout process at this time.

Their website also consists of a page explaining their history, a FAQ page, a testimonials page, a tutorial page (where you can learn about diamonds and gems), an affiliate program, and the option to buy gift certificates. You can track your order and also download a “currently offered” widget. The company also sells on jewelry on eBay – everything from auctions starting at 99 cents to diamond earrings listed at $3999.99. They have over 67000 positive feedback and their website says they’ve been doing jewelry on eBay for five years now, so their stuff has definitely been around.

Since I discovered SilverJewelryClub back in February, I have purchased two pairs of earrings and three rings. Shipping took around two weeks for each of these pieces, some a little less. Other people I who purchased from the site received their stuff a bit faster, but not much. I am very happy with both pairs of earrings and two of the three rings. The third ring was just not something my style that I chose to take a chance on since it was so cheap. All pieces are well made and I’ve gotten a LOT of compliments on them. In fact, people have assumed that my earrings and a ring came from Lia Sophia, a jewelry party company where most every piece runs $30 or more. When they hear that I paid only $6, they’re fairy shocked!

Several people I know have also purchased items from this site. For the most part, their reviews have been nothing but positive. One person was very unhappy with how tiny the pendant they received was, but if they would have considered the dimensions listed on the site, they would have realized this. A pendant listed on the site right now says it’s 5/8 x 1/4 inch, which is pretty tiny, but that information IS readily available.

All in all, I’m very happy with SJC. I would love to see them offer more rings and bracelets and less pendants (or maybe more of their pendants as earrings!!) but otherwise, am very happy with their selection. While I haven’t gotten anything yet that I felt was TRULY worth the $80 the piece is listed for, I definitely see why people are shocked to hear that I only paid $6 for them. As long as you keep in mind that shipping can take up to two weeks, I also feel comfortable giving this jewelry as gifts. It’s very unusual and doesn’t look like junk. Two thumbs up for SJC!
