Rudi’s Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns Review

I don’t know how common this is because I have only met one person who does this but apparently there are people who refuse, couldn’t even imagine eating a burger with bread and not a bun. Nearly every single time that I am eating a veggie burger I am eating it between two pieces of bread, not buns, so it is kind of hard for me to understand why one couldn’t use bread instead of a bun. I can however understand how using a bun for eating a burger is both appealing and yummy. I don’t think that I had ever bought buns before until very recently. My mom had given me some homemade veggie burgers and I happen to notice a sale of buns that were only two dollars and fifty cents, regularly four dollars and seventy nine cents. The reason that they were normally so pricey was because they were organic, as an avid fan of all things organic I just had to try them and so I got a package of Rudi’s Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns.

This was not the first time that I had tried an organic bakery item from the Rudi’s Organic Bakery brand, previously I had tried their French Bread, 7 Grain and 14-Grain Bread, Honey Sweet Whole Wheat Bread and 100 Percent Whole Wheat Bread and their Oat Bread. I didn’t know if I had ever had anything spelt before and didn’t have to slightest clue as to what it tasted like or what it brought to the table as far as nutrition. After a bit of research I learned that spelt is higher in protein than wheat and the protein in spelt is easier to digest. This was great news as a vegetarian. I knew that the Rudi’s Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns were healthy and so I was expecting them to taste very hearty, I was preparing myself for a very hearty taste so as not to be disappointed. To my surprise they were not as hearty as I had imagined and actually found them to be extremely yummy, not hearty like whole wheat with a sweet nutty taste.

I knew that spelt flour would be the main ingredients for Rudi’s Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns but I was curious what the other ingredients were. The ingredient of these buns are organic spelt flour, water, organic evaporated cane juice, organic sesame seeds, organic potato flour, sea salt, yeast, organic high oleic sunflower and/or safflower oil, cultured spelt flour, organic oat fiber, organic barley malt, organic oat flour, vinegar, ascorbic acid and natural enzymes. I was also curious about the nutrition facts Each bun contained one hundred and forty calories, with fifteen calories from fat. There is five whole grams of protein, similar to what you would find in a veggie burger, three grams of sugars, two grams of fiber, twenty eight grams of carbohydrates and two hundred and sixty milligrams of sodium. Also each bun offered two percent of your daily need of vitamin C and thiamin and six percent of your daily need of iron.

I would definitely recommend Rudi’s Organic Bakery Spelt Hamburger Buns to anyone. I really enjoyed them and certainly will think about stocking up on them if they go on sale again because they were so healthy and tasted so good. I am very glad that I tried these hamburger buns and will keep an eye out for more spelt products as I really liked the taste and nutrition that it offers. I know I’ll still be able to eat a veggie burger in between two pieces of bread but these hamburger buns definitely made me want to do it less often.
