Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder is one of the least expensive finishing powders on the market.
I picked mine up from Wal-Mart, but you can also find Rimmel London’s products at drugstores and Target stores.
The Stay Matte Pressed Powder sold for around $4, which I find to be a decent price for a setting powder.
I had previously been using a translucent powder that had 4 shades to counteract redness and other skin problems.
I really liked the powder, but found it to be a tad too light for the upcoming warmer months when my fair skin does get a slightly darker hue.There were a few shades of the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder, but I played it safe and bought the 001 Translucent shade.
The product comes in a round pan with a clear pull off lid. You can see the entire product through the lid and the information is marked on the top and a bottom sticker very clearly.
There is 14 grams or .49 oz of powder and most people do not use a lot of powder for setting their liquid foundation.This powder does not come with any sort of sponge or brush, so make sure you have one before purchasing.
I find that this powder is almost too pressed. It is sort of hard to get on the brush in a way that you might expect a denser powder might be.
I use a flat top kabuki style brush with very dense, soft synthetic bristles.I do see that product is on the brush after a few swirls in the pan though, so it’s not a big letdown right now.
This product does seem to have a light peachy tan tint to it, so it is not completely translucent.
The powder is a little chalky, but does apply fairly well for the price. I use this over a Revlon foundation and find that it sets the liquid pretty well. I do like a loose powder, but for travel or less messy application, this one is actually okay. I actually want to add something about traveling with this though; the cap does not have anything substantial to latch onto. You might want to keep this in a makeup bag or use a rubber band to ensure this is closed.
This powder does have a scent to it that reminds me of lotion for some reason. If you think of a generic lotion or powder scent, then this is that. It is really not that unappealing, but for someone who wants a product fragrance free might find it a big con.
I think that, for the price, it works rather well. You can often find these Rimmel products on sale at drugstores and there are also coupons available every once in a while that would make this powder’s price very low.
This does help with shine and I have not noticed my skin or t-zone to be oilier when using. It definitely does set your liquid well to prevent shine, though blotting papers might be needed after a few hours.
