Review: Britain’s Jacob’s Cream Crackers are Cheap and Tasty

Jacob’s Cream Crackers are a popular British-brand of cracker that can be found in specialty-British or -European supermarkets. A 200-gram package of crackers cost just $1.96, which is very reasonable for an imported food item.

I was delighted to come across Jacob’s Cream Crackers on a recent trip to my supermarket. The British aisle at my local supermarket is slowly expanding to include more treats from home; some are well priced, while other products are quite high for what you buy. I have not seen Jacob’s Cream Crackers there before, so I quickly seized a pack of crackers and placed them in my trolley.

Jacob’s Cream Crackers are traditionally served with butter, margarine or thin slices of cheese. Jam, preserves, deli ham or turkey also go well on a couple of crackers for an effortless mid-morning snack.

This product contains 35 calories in every cracker, which is 70 calories per serving. A lot of people are not content to eat plain crackers; many like to add ingredients to crackers, so the calorie content in this snack could easily skyrocket if you are not careful. That is an especially important consideration for people who are on a calorie controlled diet.

Jacob’s Cream Crackers are made from just 5 ingredients: wheat flour, palm oil, salt, sodium bicarbonate and yeast.

I really like the taste of Jacob’s Cream Crackers. They are crunchy and delicious. They do not taste salty and they are not greasy. Each cracker is 3×3″, which is larger than your average cracker.

Once you bring home some Jacob’s Cream Crackers, you must store them in a cool dry place, not necessarily the fridge if you want to prolong the shelf life of this product. If the crackers are left out they will lose their taste and crunchiness and will not be any good at all.

The nutrition facts, ingredients and other information are in French as well as English, as is common with most British food items. So you can practice your French!

I would highly recommend this product to people who like savory snacks such as crackers. These are different to your average cracker, but they are still very tasty, crisp and can be eaten plain or with added ingredients for a light snack.
