We recently finished a remodel of our master bathroom. My colors are gray tile, natural maple oak cabinets, and Wilsonart HD laminate in gray, black and white colors. Our walls are white as well as the sink and toilet. Since the fixtures are brushed nickel, my husband thought the room looked too plain. He actually accused me of not liking color!
Well, we solved that with a trip to our local Pier 1 Imports store! We didn’t even intend to purchase this vase, we went into the store to check out their wall decorations. However, our Pier 1 Imports store has a ton of silk flower displays, in a wide variety of glass vases, all over the store, and this caught my husbands attention.
The glass vase that appealed to both of us was a square based, tapered vase. This is made of a heavy duty, thick clear glass with a base that measures 3 1/2″ by 3 1/2″. The top of the vase is the same size, but the long section in between (and this is a tall 14″ vase) is tapered inward. It looks both delicate and dramatic, and can definitely add a statement to any room.
We bought some Pier 1 Imports Green Stone Mix to put in the bottom of the vase, then went around the store and experimented with all of the different long stemmed flowers that were just waiting to be purchased. There were so many it was hard to make a choice!
Even though the Pier 1 Imports 14″ Glass Tapered Vase is quite tall, it is not at all top heavy. The vase seems perfectly balanced and sturdy. We have this vase sitting on our tile ledge that surrounds our soaking tub, and it really looks great. The green and gray colored stones in the bottom section are easily seen, and we filled it with bold colored silk flowers in colors of red, pale yellow and white.
The 14″ Glass Tapered Vase retailed for $20.00, and initially I thought that was a little on the expensive side, but then I saw some small vases at my local Walmart store that were priced as high as $8, so considering the difference in the size, and the sturdiness of this Pier 1 Imports version, I think it is well worth the asking price of $20.00.
Pier 1 Imports had a display of six or seven different styles of tall glass vases, so if this tapered vase is not to your liking, they probably have other designs that would suit you. They also sell sea glass if this is more to your liking than the green stones we chose, and the clear vase will show off both equally well.
To conclude, the Pier 1 Imports 14″ Glass Tapered Vase is plain yet elegant. Since it is made from clear glass it can be used with any color scheme. You have the freedom of choosing the colors that will go into this vase, which can make it a look of casual elegance, or a more dramatic look. You choose!
