My Top 5 Restaurant Picks in Myrtle Beach

You know, I cannot tell you how many people over the past 14 years have asked me and my family what restaurants to visit when they go to Myrtle Beach. heck, at this point we are practically considered locals. We have been visiting this area for 14 years now, and many times twice a year during that time. That being said, I thought it would be a good idea to let others know just what I’ve learned about the restaurants in the area over the years, and hopefully give someone some good advice on where to eat. Besides, that’s one of the best things about vacation, right? So here we go:

Sara J’s Seafood
Okay, this place, located in Garden city which is just south of Myrtle beach, is a major locals hot spot. They have a wonderful array of Seafood, and being that the restaurant sits right on the marsh, you know the stuff is fresh. The first thing you get when you sit down is a basket of the best hush puppies I have ever eaten. Trust me, one bite of these puppies (no pun intended) and you won’t be able to stop yourself. For those of you who don’t like seafood, (this would be my husband) they have wonderful steaks and a few chicken dishes that look good, but I have to say that I haven’t tried them before. One thing to know before you head there though is that the place fills up quick, no matter what day it is. So if you don’t want to wait in line forever I would suggest you head there early.

Nibbles at the pier
First of all, when you sit down to eat at this restaurant you are literally sitting right on the ocean, so the scenery is phenomenal. The only time me and my family eat here is at breakfast, and it’s the best that I’ve had in Myrtle beach. The restaurant is actually located at Surfside Pier, which is very easy to find, just ask anyone. The price is reasonable and the food is great. It’s one of those places that really make your beach trip feel like a beach trip. I equate it to an upscale diner.

Bonefish grill
If you’re looking for something more upscale, try Bonefish grill. This place really impressed me with it’s menu. Very fancy, but also very welcoming. The food has a slight Mediterranean theme, with anything from pasta to steak. It is a little pricey, but not unreasonable, especially if you are looking for a nice meal and soothing atmosphere. I do suggest that you get the shrimp appetizer because it is amazing. My family actually ordered two and it was gone within minutes. They do have two locations, one in North Myrtle Beach and the other in Surfside.

River City Cafe
This place has the best burger and fries on the beach. Everything is homemade, including the fries which are hand cut. Their onion rings are awesome and you get peanuts when you sit down. This place is also located on the beach which makes it even better. You can sit outside or inside, but of course I would suggest the outside. They do offer to go orders and either way the food is great. I would suggest this place for lunch, maybe just because for me, burgers and fries just seem like a lunch food, but it’s your choice.

Carrabbas Italian Grill
This place has outstanding Italian food. In my opinion it’s as close to Italy as you’re going to get here. They have and open kitchen so that you can watch everything being prepared, and let me tell you, EVERYTHING is prepared fresh at this place. They always have daily specials which always causes me to try something different. Their wait staff if wonderful, and very knowledgeable of the menu. It’s a home run for kids too, because they give kids (if you ask) their own piece of pizza dough to play with, which thrilled my three year old to death and kept her occupied.

These are the top five restaurants in my opinion, but of course there’s many more. But that will have to wait for another article. By the way, If any of you have never visited Myrtle Beach, you really do need to go. It’s fun and relaxing and there’s something for everyone to do.
