Located in northeastern Delaware, Wilmington is the largest city in the state with an estimated population of 64,148.

Grouped by age, 21.7% of the population is under 18, 8.4% is 18 to 24, 30.1% is 25 to 44, 26.9% is 45 to 64, and 12.9% is 65 or older. The median age of the population is 38.1.

The racial composition of the city is 39.7% White, 55.1% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.0% Asian, 2.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. The population is 9.9% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The land area of the city is 10.85 square miles. The city’s population density is 5,912.26 people per square mile.

2. Largest Cities in Delaware: Dover

Situated in central Delaware, Dover is the state’s capital and second largest city with an estimated population of 33,041.

A comparatively large part of the population is college-aged: the city is home to Delware State University. Classified by age, 23.1% of the population is under 18, 18.2% is 18 to 24, 25.9% is 25 to 44, 18.9% is 45 to 64, and 13.9% is 65 or older. The median age of the population is 29.4.

Located in northwestern Delaware (bordering Pennsylvania and Maryland), Newark is the third largest city in the state with an estimated population of 30,319.

An unusually large part of the population is college-aged: the city is home to the University of Delaware. Categorized by age, 12.1% of the population is under 18, 47.3% is 18 to 24, 13.5% is 25 to 44, 16.8% is 45 to 64, and 10.3% is 65 or older. The median age of the population is 21.7.

4. Largest Cities in Delaware: Pike Creek

Situated in the central part of northern Delaware, Pike Creek is the fourth largest city in the state with an estimated population of 19,751.

Sorted by age, 22.9% of the population is under 18, 8.3% is 18 to 24, 35.0% is 25 to 44, 24.7% is 45 to 64, and 9.1% is 65 or older. The median age of the population is 36.2.

Located in the central part of northern Delaware, Bear is the fifth largest city in the state with an estimated population of 17,593.

Arranged by age, 33.0% of the population is under 18, 8.5% is 18 to 24, 36.7% is 25 to 44, 17.7% is 45 to 64, and 4.1% is 65 or older. The median age of the population is 30.4.

The racial mix of the city is 66.9% White, 26.8% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 1.8% from other races, and 2.2% from two or more races. The population is 5.5% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The land area of the city is 5.74 square miles. The city’s population density is 3,064.98 people per square mile.
