How to Find Friends on Myspace

Looking for you best friend from 3rd grade or your old college buddy. Well it is very easy to find them when it comes to Myspace. This is a brief guide on how to find your old friends on this website without going through an extreme hassle.

The first thing you will want to do is try to remember the person’s name. If you know their first and last name then you are in good shape, if not, don’t worry we will cover that in a little while. You will need to establish a Myspace account. It is free to join so if you do not already have an account go to the site and press the orange “Sign Up!” button. Here you will be transferred to a registration page. Fill out the info and log into your new account. If you already have an account put in your email address and your password and get logged in.

The next step to finding your friend is to go to the top of the page and click on “People.” Now in the space provided below, type in the person’s name. Now if the person has a very common name such as Michael Johnson, then you will probably get several people with this exact same name and it may take you a very long time to go through everyone. This is when you find the filter your Friend Search on the right side of the screen and select the country, postal code and the number of miles from that postal code you think your friend resides in and then press update. This will narrow your search down immensely and you will have a better chance at finding your friend.

When and if you have found your friend, go to the person’s Myspace page and click on their button below their photo called “Add Me.” Now this is where you request to be the person’s friend. You can also click on the button “Message Me” and send your friend a message to let them know that it is you. Some people are really sketchy when it comes to online “friends” so they will not add you as their friend unless they know who you are. So it is best to send your friend a message to be on the safe side.

Now if you cannot remember the person’s first or last name, you can type in the name that you know and then you can filter your Friend search. For example, you know your friend’s name is Anthony but you cannot remember his last name. You know that he lives close to or in Los Angeles, so you can type in the postal code for L.A. and if you don’t know it then you can always Google postal codes. And then select the number of miles you think your friend may live by this postal code. The best option would be to select 100 miles within this postal code if you do not know the exact location of your friend.

Now if you are looking for college buddies and you don’t remember their last names, when you filled out your registration form you should have been able to list any colleges you are affiliated with. If you are logged into your Myspace account, go to the top of the page and press “Home.” This should take you to your own personal page where you can edit friends, check messages and other features. You will want to scroll down to the “Visit My School Home Page” box and click on the school that you want to find friends from. A few photos will come up and you can scroll down to the bottom of the photo section and either click on “View All Alumni” button on the left side of the page or “View Current Students” on the right side of the page.

Once you click on one of these two options, a screen will come up with a large blue box that says,” Refine your search”. Here you will be able to narrow your search down by sex, age, year, graduation, and more. Once you have refined your search click “Update” at the bottom of the blue box and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen. You will see many people who you may or may not have gone to school with. This is an excellent way to look for people you remember by face and not by name.

Another way to find friends on Myspace is to go to your current friends’ pages and look at their friends. You may be amazed at how many people they still have contact with that you may be looking for.

I hope God Willing this guide was of some help to you finding your friends on Myspace.
