Honey Nut Cheerios by General Mills

My all time favorite cereal is Honey Nut Cheerios by General Mills. I used to eat the regular cheerios but then I discovered the Honey Nut and haven’t switched back since. These are nutritious and delicious or the entire family. My two year old son enjoys these cheerios just as much as I do.

Nutrition Facts: One serving size is ¾ cup (28 g). There are 12 servings per container. I am reviewing the 12.25 ounce (347 g) box. First I will give you the facts without adding any milk. I happen to love these without milk just like my son. There are 110 calories per serving. 15 of them come from fat. There is 1.5g of total fat. There is no saturated fat and no trans fat. There is 0.5g of polyunsaturated fat and 0.5g of monounsaturated fat. There is no cholesterol. There are 190 mg of sodium. There are 115mg of potassium. Total carbohydrates are 22g. There are 2g of dietary fiber and less than 1g of soluble fiber. There are 9g of sugar. There are 11g of other carbohydrates. There are 3g of protein. Now here are the facts with ½ cup of skim milk which is what I would use in my cereal. 150 calories and 15 of them are from fat per serving. The rest of the numbers don’t really change since you are only adding skim milk.

Cheerios can help lower your cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

You can contact general mills and get more information from their website www.generalmills.com. You can also call them at 1-800-328-1144 from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm weekdays. Other General Mills cereal include Regular Cheerios, Total, Fiber One, and Wheaties. Of course there are even more to choose from than just these.

Taste: You can actually taste the honey in each bite. They start off crisp and as they sit longer in the milk they start to get a little soggy. Try not to let your cereal sit for too long after you pour the milk. It tastes much better when it is crispy, not soggy.

Appearance: Each cheerios is round with a hole in the middle. It is rare but sometimes you can find two cheerios sticking to each other. Sometimes you can also find some that are broken. It doesn’t matter though they still taste the same. They are light brown in color.

After I eat my Honey Nut Cheerios cereal in the morning I can get a little after taste. It doesn’t always digest correctly. Some day s it goes down smooth and they don’t repeat on me. However, if I am having a stressful day, they will definitely repeat on me. That is the one bad thing about the honey nut part of this cereal. It doesn’t stop me from eating them though. They are so healthy for you I don’t mind a little after taste once in a while. My son likes to eat them dry as a snack. He really enjoys them when we are out shopping. They are easy for a two year old to pick up and feed them by themselves. I am ashamed to say that even my cat likes them!

I highly recommend Honey Nut Cheerios. They are extremely healthy for you and your entire family. They are a great snack or a complete breakfast. Add some fruit and you are set. How can you go wrong with this product.

You can buy them at your local supermarket for about $5.99 a box. Try to wait and get them on sale. If you look on the box General Mills takes part in the Box Tops for Education. It is a program that earns cash for your school. Since I am a teacher I collect these and hand them in to my local Box Top collector. She sends them in and our school gets money. It’s just a few cents but every penny helps.
