Holiday Lights at Wild Lights Zoo in Denver

Every year the Denver Zoo is transformed from a quiet, restful place for animals, to a spectacular display of holiday lights and merriment. If your time is limited, and you do nothing else in Denver this holiday season, you must visit Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo.

About Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo
Your family will delight in seeing over 150 different animated animals at the annual holiday light display, the Denver Zoo Wild Lights. You’ll be intrigued by holiday light displays showing monkeys swinging in the trees, elephants having a water fight, frogs leaping from lily pad to lily pad, and more.

The Denver Zoo Wild Lights holiday display transforms over 38 acres of the Denver Zoo, chuck full of fun and family friendly activities for you to enjoy.

Santa Claus at Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo
Even Santa Claus has made special arrangements to come to Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo! Santa will be at the Zoo’s North Pole along with specially carved ice sculptures. Of course, no one wants Santa Claus to be late for the big event, so his last day at the Zoo Lights display is December 23rd. Then he’s off to finish his last minute preparations for Christmas.

The songs of Christmas Carolers fill the air, and you can hum or sing along.

Food & Drinks at Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo
Don’t be afraid of the chilly night air, either. There are plenty of places to stop and get warm while you visit the Denver Zoo Wild Lights. Warming huts sell chestnuts that have been roasted (hmm, that sounds like a song), hot cocoa, cotton candy, soft pretzels, and other treats that are sure to delight. Adults will even appreciate being able to have their favorite spirits with their hot drink.

The polar bears and sea lions always seem to be awake, and ready to please the crowds that gather to watch them.

For a special time, visit for Zoo Year’s Eve. This is a special event when Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo transforms to a family friendly New Years Eve celebration.

Or, come on December 14th – 23rd and you’ll be treated to Wild Ice at Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo. That’s a mouthful! Enjoy the spectacular sight of ice sculptures found in the garden and see fire dancers who perform every night.

If you’d rather time your visit to celebrate Kwanzaa, come on December 26th -30th. This holiday celebrates African American culture by including dance, music, and education.

Admission Prices for Wild Lights at the Denver Zoo:
The prices are affordable for all families.
Children under 3 years old are free
Children 3 to 11 are only $4
Children over 11 & adults are $8 each.
If you bring a non-perishable food donation, that is a can of food, you’ll get $1 off your Denver Zoo admission price.
