I recently had Granite Transformations granite counters installed in my home. I found this product on HGTV on one of their design makeover shows. I have to admit I was intrigued by discount granite counters on a budget that simply cover your existing counters.
Basically these budget granite kitchen counters are granite that has been finely ground down and then mixed with a resin. It is then made in molds to make exact pieces that will fit over you kitchen counters.
This product has been around for decades in Italy and is gaining in popularity in the United States rapidly.
Here is a look at what I found before, during, and after having the Granite Transformations granite counter installed over my existing counters.
Ordering
I found the information for the Granite Transformations near me and all I had to do was call for an appointment. They brought samples out for me to look at. This was very simple. All I had to do was make sure I was there. You can go to their show room if you wish.
Once I found the granite counters I liked, I then had to decide on a sink. You can change out to an undermount sink or keep your traditional sink.
Installation
Installation way pretty easy. First, someone comes in to measure your counters. They take exact measurements. Basically, they are building a counter out of granite that can be slid on top of your existing counters, so details are important.
This process took about 2 hours.
Pricing
Pricing will vary on the different types of granite your choose. The highest prices in my area were $60 a square foot installed. The lowest priced were $45 a square foot installed.
Be sure to ask if there is special pricing or incentive for large surface areas. I ended up buying over 60 square feet total and was give a free sink.
The thin granite sheeting counters cup with a life time warranty that can be transferred to new home owners when you move.
Care
The care very simple. Unlike traditional granite encounters you do not have to seal the granite. Granite Transformations Counters work just like slab granite though. They are heat proof and you simply have to be careful of scratching.
I spray my same old cleaner on and wipe off with a kitchen towel or sponge. Then they look as good as new again!
Overall
Overall I would recommend these budget Granite Transformations granite kitchen counters. They look great, the installation was super easy, and not every messy. The day of the counter installation the process took about 6 hours.
All I did was take everything off my existing counters. I did not have to reinforce my existing counters, rip out old counters, or generally cause a huge mess.
