A Guide to the Spring Fling Festival in Downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina, May 4-6, 2012
Spring has sprung in Spartanburg, SC! For locals, this means it is almost time for our much anticipated annual Spring Fling Festival, which is the official kickoff event that ushers us into our spring/summer season of outside entertainment here in Spartanburg! Find all the details in this guide to make your plans to attend this year’s Spring Fling Festival, held on May 4-6, 2012. The great thing about Spring Fling is that admission to the festival is free, which will defray the cost of gasoline to travel to the festival if you live out of Spartanbur.
General Spring Fling Information for Attendees
#1 – Spring Fling is a smoke free and no alcohol event.
#2 – Pets are not allowed.
#3- Spring Fling is large and covers several city blocks. Beginning on Friday morning (8am), May 4th certain street closures will be enforced.
#4 – Parking is free at Spring Fling and there are ample spaces either on-street around the site or in parking garages very close to the festival.
#5 – All of the entertainment is free and will be on 5 stages. For 2012, there will be no concerts at Barnet Park as usual. All of the entertainment will be held within the festival area.
#6 – Wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated during your visit, and take a chair so you won’t be walking or standing the entire time. I suggest bringing a camera and umbrella too. Spring showers often pop-up, so come prepared!
#7- There is always a first-aid tent at the festival. Ask for the location when you arrive in case you need it!
There will be a food court with 30+ vendors with everything from ice cream, chicken, pizza, corn dogs, funnel cakes to turkey legs, blooming onions, and coca-cola products. No alcohol is allowed at the festival.
Everyone will enjoy the live entertainment on 5 stages including clogging, country, gospel and rock and more! There is entertainment for every genre! For a full list of performers, stages and times, click on entertainment (to be posted soon on this page).
Underground for teens/tweens will be a place for them to enjoy music, gaming and other activities.
For shoppers, there will be approximately 75 vendors from 13 states selling their unique items at the Marketplace! Women, you will think you are in paradise!
A must-see attraction at Spring Fling will be the K-9 Frisbee Dog Shows. This is a favorite show of mine each year! Take your camera! You will want to take pictures at this show!

I really enjoy this fun filled and family oriented festival each year. It always feels so good after winter to be outside in the hopefully sunny and warm weather with family, friends, entertainment and great food! I hope to see you there!
