6 Secrets for Fast Potty Training

Potty training can be a lot of fun for you and your child, but it can also be frustrating for both parties. Here are my secrets on how to potty train your child fast. These secrets have given me success during the potty training stages for fast potty training for my children. The secrets are as easy as staying positive during your child’s potty training mistakes, playing potty games and rewarding your child. Your child probably loves games, presents and money, since they see what you do with your money when you visit a store.

Stay Positive
My first secret for fast potty training is staying positive and helping the child stay positive. During potty training, if a child makes a mistake and urinates on the floor, have them help you clean it up, explain to them that this sometimes happens and encourage them to keep trying.

Potty Training Games
My second secret for fast potty training is making potty training into a game that includes role playing. When I had to use the bathroom, I would say to my child, “Let’s play a game where you be the mommy, and I’ll be the child.” Next, I would say, “Mommy, I need to go use the potty.” My child would follow along and pretend she was the mother and go into the bathroom as I pretended I was the child. This really helped, and she really wanted to reverse the roles back and be the child.

Treasures and Trinkets
Another secret for fast potty training is using a trinket reward system and a treasure box. I would go to my local thrift store and buy little trinkets that they have bagged up for fifty cents to one dollar. Next, I would put them in a shoe box and call it “the treasure box.” After my children used the toilet, I would give them an opportunity to go through the treasure box and pick out a special treasure. The children loved to take the trinkets out of the box and spread them around to pick one, knowing that when they use the toilet again, they would get to pick another. Purchasing trinkets from your local thrift store is inexpensive and gives you a variety of fun items for your child to choose from.

Toilet Bank
My fourth potty training secret for fast potty training is to keep a bank by the toilet for my child. When the child uses the toilet, they would get a penny, dime, nickel or even a quarter that they could put into their piggy bank each time they used the toilet.

Surprise Surprise!
Another potty training secret for fast potty training is keeping small surprises in the bathroom. After several days of using the toilet successfully, I would surprise my children with something extra. I would have a miniature, wrapped present hidden in the bathroom, such as a new pair of underwear or another special gift that they would love.

Potty Training Calendar
My final potty training secret is using a calendar system. After being dry all day, we would put a star on that day. After one week of dry undies, reward your child with an ice cream treat, and after one month, make it even more special by rewarding them with a new outfit or a special new toy they have been asking for.

Children love the reward system, and these potty training secrets worked great for me for fast potty training during the potty training stages.
