5 Quick and Easy 4th of July Dessert Recipes

Grilling, enjoying the day of our independence, and socializing with a significant other and friends are all great ways to spend the fourth of July before the fireworks start lighting up the night sky. After eating a well cooked meal, desserts are the next best thing. What to cook for desserts that add a unique and pleasant surprise to guests and family? Here are a few cleaver-looking and tasting delights that will keep with the theme of celebration.

Fourth of July Pretzel Sparklers

White Chocolate

Sprinkles: Red, White, and Blue colored

Package of Pretzels (Rod Style is Preferred)

Melt chocolate over very low heat. Dip pretzels halfway into the melted chocolate. Roll pretzels over the colored sprinkles and let dry on wax paper.

Fourth of July-Bang Dessert

1 can fruit pie filling
1 box cake mixture (Small)
Half cup of melted butter

Grease an 8×8 square pan. Pour in filling and spread evenly in the pan. Sprinkle the cake mix over fruit filling. Add the melted butter on the top and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Best when served hot. You can add ΒΌ cup of nuts and top it off with ice cream, if desired.

Star-Spangled Mores

Marshmallow Stars (Peep style)
Graham crackers (cinnamon or regular)
Milk chocolate bars (Hershey special dark or original)

Break crackers in half. Snap chocolate bars so they match the size of graham cracker squares.

Microwave the marshmallow stars on HIGH for 15 seconds. Put a chocolate bar and a slightly melted marshmallow star between two graham crackers and eat promptly.

Home-made Patriotic Colored Popsicles

1 box of red colored Jell-O
1 box of blue colored Jell-O
1 package of red colored Kool-Aid
1 package or blue colored Kool-Aid
2 cups sugar, (1 Cup for each color)
4 cups hot water, (2 cups for each color)
4 cups cold water, (2 cups for each color)
Any style of ice pop molds

Mix red Kool-Aid and Jell-O ingredients plus 1 cup sugar. Add 2 cups of the hot water and stir well. Add 2 cups of the cold water and stir well. Pour into chosen molds and put in freezer until frozen.

Follow the same instructions for the blue colored ingredients. Eat when frozen and enjoy!

Red, White, and Blue Jellyrolls

1 box yellow cake mixture
10 sliced strawberries
2 tubs of whipped cream
1 large bag of MilkyWay Minis (half of the bag sliced and the other half chopped)
1 large bag of M&M;’s (red and blue colors should be separated)

Grease a 20×14 inch pan. (Sides and bottom)

Bake cake in pan and let cool. Place on wax paper with sprinkled sugar on it. (The sugar will stop the cake from sticking to it)

Spread one tub of topping on the cake and place the strawberries with sliced MilkyWay Minis on top of the whipped cream. Roll into a cylinder shape and frost with the last tub of whipped cream. Decorate with chopped MilkyWay Minis and the red and blue M&M;’s.

Serve and enjoy!
