5 Creative Ways to Display Swim Team Ribbons

Oh, the fun of swim team. The meets, the heats, the markers, the timers, all make for great summer memories. For their efforts, swimmers get to take home lots of flash for their splash too. Swim team ribbons can multiply faster than rabbits so it helps to have a few ideas for organizing and displaying swim team ribbons. Our ribbons of the week usually start out showing off on our herb drying rack since it’s on vacation from drying herbs in the summer. Soon though, these ribbons need to move to another place of honor.

Make a swim team scrapbook.

Swimmers could create a page for each meet in a scrapbook and add ribbons with double sided sticky form board. A scrapbook could also include other mementos like schedules and photos along with ribbons. Personalize the scrapbook with saying like those that kids write on their backs with permanent markers like “eat my bubbles.” Since this information is usually on the back of the ribbon, write the date, stroke and meter below each ribbon.

Create a unique bulletin board border.

Maybe hanging all of the season’s swim team ribbons on the bulletin board would take up too much real estate but what about creating a border? Lining up swim team ribbons from end to end around the edges keeps the on display and yet out of the way. Kids can create a fun pattern with their red, white and blue ribbons too.

Decorate a door frame.

Maybe hanging swim team ribbons on the wall isn’t right for your home but often door frame are just, well, standing there empty. Since ribbons are narrow they will fit perfectly along a door frame. Invest in some sticky Velcro tab wall hangers for easy on and easy off. Keep toddlers and pets in mind to decide how low you should go.

String them up across a bedroom.

Swim team ribbons already come with a string loop but so here’s a neat trick for putting stringing them up on display. Use a pool or marine type of rope for the aquatic theme. Don’t string the rope through the loops because they will always be turned side ways. Instead, put the loop flat under the rope. Then take the bottom of the ribbon and fold it up and over the rope, through the top loop and pull it down snug in front of the rope. This way the swim team ribbons will always stand at attention as they decorate your swimmer’s bedroom.

Share the fame in a frame.

Another options is to buy a frame. Arrange the ribbons to see how large your frame will need to be. Use double sided sticky foam board to apply ribbons to the back of the frame. The ribbons can be put into rows, a fan shape or even placed randomly. Another fun tip is to use a frame with a border mat and let all of the swim team friends and coaches sign the mat to make this swim team ribbon display a super gift.
